Until now most hybrid parrots have resulted from crossings between birds roughly the same size.
If they weren’t the same size, they were usually from the same family.
The result of a crossing between a male scarlet-chested parrot and a female blue princess parrot has put paid to both those accepted norms.
It happened accidentally in southern New South Wales, an Australian state.
